
Bone Density Testing
This is the only test that can diagnose osteoporosis before a broken bone occurs. This test helps to estimate the density of your bones and your chance of breaking a bone.
Who should have a bone density test?
The NOF recommends that you have a bone density test if you:
- Are a woman aged 65 or older
- Are a man aged 70 or older
- Break a bone after 50
- Are a woman of menopausal aged with risk factors
- Are a postmenopausal woman under age 65 with risk factors
- Are a man aged 50-60 with risk factors
- Have other risk factors that apply
